kelsi's first girls camp

i sent kelsi to girls camp yesterday morning and i am missing her! i know if it's anything like my girls camps she'll come back a little dirtier, a little hoarse, a little sleepier, with more fun experiences and she will love her YW leaders even more. i guess she'll just come back a little different...and eventhough i'm so excited for her at the same time it's hard for me to miss not being part of one of those first moments with her.

FREE!

i love free stuff and i must have an eye for anything free-we have such a fun little communtiy that actually does alot of fun free activities: snowfest, back to school carnival, PAT nights(library parties), summer lunches in the park, dance festival, fishermans breakfast, beehive credit union day-just to name a few and a new one...
the broulims carnival...i hope they do this every year and i actually hope it is a little rainy like this year-no lines!

the kids jumped in the bouncys for free.

they fished for free broulims coupons: since the turnout was so low they each got coupons to pick out in the store-any candy under $1, any kind of apple, a banana, and any doughnut.

the twinkie man was their giving out free twinkies...we also got free hot dogs, free ice-cream cones, and free cotton candy.

and my kids favorite: free ferris wheel rides- i think they went 10 times and i thought they were going to laugh at the small size of it but they couldn't have had more fun~yay, i love a free fun filled day!

hooked on phonics

kelsi does so well in school-she even got straight A's this year...but she has never been a naturally strong reader or speller. kelsi reads and spells phonetically...which as everyone knows is not how the english language works. so as we were reading the scriptures the other night she read "...and in their snogs" and i said "it says snogs in the scriptures?" and she said "what you don't believe me?" and i looked where she was at and it read "...and in their synagogues" we had a good laugh-she's such a good sport...and i hope she knows how proud i am that she works so hard at something that doesn't come naturally. (a side note: kaden said i know what a snog is-a kiss. i forgot that is what they call it in harry potter)

koys got allergies

i was helping koy write a thank you note and he was wanting to be done, so as i was spelling out a word to him...i said next comes the letter a and he looks at me very seriously and says "mom, i'm allergic to a's" and i just kind of stared at him and he said "really mom, i am!" we're in big trouble-i have no idea how to cure this:)

kaden reading

i asked kaden the other day how his book was? he said "Great!" i asked if he was about half way? and he said "no, i'm only in the 400's" this just made me laugh:) kaden reads the longest books. i was excited that he decided to try a new series instead of reading the Harry Potter series for the 4th time-he is reading the "eragon"series or as kaden corrects me the inheritance cycle. they are his new favorites and typical of kaden he pretty much lives in these books: he can speak dwarf, nomad, urgal, elfish, and the ancient language now too.

a good book

*i read "The Holy Secret" by James Ferrell while i was in Arizona...it had been a while since i had read a church book and it was really good. a part that really struck me was a quote from Brigham Young:
"the gospel causes men and women to reveal that which would have slept in their dispositions until they dropped in their graves. the plan by which the Lord leads his people makes them reveal their thoughts and intents and brings out every trait of disposition lurking in their being"...come unto me the Savior said, and i will show unto men their weakness...if they humble themselves before me. i make weak things become srong unto them. Ether 12:27-i am so glad to have the gospel in my life, it inspires me to be better!
*i also read the "twilight" series, i will just say it was not all the hype i thought it would be-the first book was as good as it got!
*currently, i am reading Harry Potter 6 (again), i wanted it fresh in my mind before the movie comes out in July...kaden wants to see it for his birthday.
