sacrament
okay-so i left church feeling rather beat up. we have had numerous talks about sacrament meeting. first from Elder Oaks in conference, then from the stake presidency, then from our ward and then today we had a relief society lesson on Elder Oaks talk. well i have loved hearing what all the speakers had to say and think it is very important since it should be our most important meeting. but our relief society lesson turned to how noisy our sacraments are and quite a few of the older sisters kept talking about how they never brought toys or activities or food for their kids-and even some of the younger sisters kind of said the same thing and i was getting grouchy with all the talk about everybodys "perfect" kids in sacrament-because mine aren't! and i was starting to feel like maybe i wasn't invited anymore. well i seriously was kind of grumpy by the time i was heading home and then that night as we were reading the scriptures a scripture totally popped out at me from 1 Nephi 16:2 "...wherefore, the guilty taketh the truth to be hard, for it cutteth them to the very center." i thought back to my bad feelings and realized i needed to be humbled-i sometimes have a hard time being told i am not doing things the right way or even that i could do them better. so we will be having a family home evening to try to work on our sacrament behavior!

Are you kidding!?! I know kids in general are not perfect but your kids are really pretty good kids, yes, even in sacrament meeting. I know what you mean though. I was thinking, 'How do you get thru 10 minutes of any kids life with out toys or entertainment'!!! I too noticed it was the older ladies, we just must be lazy slackers.... :)
But I'm sorry you felt bad.
Hey you notice i had nothing to say either? I Love Stacy Jensens comment that there is a time and a season for everything. We will get there all we can do is do our best! And remember that every child is different and every parent is different, that doesn't make it wrong!! keep up the good work.Loretta
I have to agree with loretta. There is a time and a season. Don't beat your self up. I think that it is not an easy task. I know i have Jaren.
The lessons we learn in life - some are easier than others. We all have to keep in mind that each of Heavenly Father's children are individuals and each is going to respond and behave differently. You do a great job on the really important things so keep doing those. A good lesson in FHE is always good as well though. I think some of the older people you mention in your blog have just forgotten what it was really like. I think you taught us all a lot with your blog. Made us think at least. Love you, -pops
Oh man! I was mad just reading. First of all, you are there every week with you kids teaching them already the importance of coming to church and the reverence part will come with age - THAT IS JUST KIDS!!!
The scripture humbled me as well - thank you.
I agree - I think those "older" ladies have simply forgotten.
Cheer up Jaci,
Kent told us to check out your blog. i just happened onto all the comments, sorry for adding to the comments...
Forgotten or not its the fact that we all come to sacrament to learn and feel the spirit. if we are doing all we can then we are only accountable to the Lord at the end of the day.
my good wife taught the infamous lesson that has been the focus of so much talk in the "ward family", and she has been heartsick that so many may have been so offended over her lesson. i think the intent of the lesson was missed. it wasnt about toys and rowdy children. it was about recommiting ourselves to the sacredness of the sacrament. Nothing more nothing less.
